Every time I want to open up my potential and let it rip this voice says, “now it’s not about you. Remember it’s all about the Lord. At that point I shrink back and say yeah that’s true, so just put it in neutral and don’t do anything spectacular that will cause attention to you. And that’s what I do.
But lately I have been challenging that belief. After studying scripture more in depth and looking at past examples we have where God used men and women to accomplish His will I see another side of that coin.
David, when confronted with Goliath didn’t say “I don’t want to do anything that would cause attention to myself.” Nor did Nehemiah when he rebuilt the walls of Jerusalem.
I have been seeing that voice, that thought, that belief as from the enemy to keep me from experiencing my glory for God’s glory. You see glory means the full weight of a thing, or the full expression of a thing. When you and I fully express who our creator made us to be, we bring attention to, honor to and praise to our creator.
When a race car gives it full throttle on race day and wins the race everyone praises the image that’s on that car. For instance if it says FORD they go away giving glory to Ford.
So Jesus said in Matthew 5:16 “Let your light shine BEFORE MEN so they can SEE YOUR GOOD WORKS and GLORIFY YOUR FATHER…”
So to that I would say get out on that track of life and floor it! Give it everything you got in what you do so that others see you and want what you have, which is a real, vibrant relationship with your creator God Himself.
